DOES GOD EXIST ?

“During Dreaming (the dreaming is the period of creation when everything was beginning), when the sky gods lived in the Milky Way, the ladies were dancing at the ceremony and one of the them had a little baby in her arms. She put the baby in the turner ( like a wooden cradle ), but all that dancing started shaking the Milky Way, and the turner fell down. It fell to the earth, creating the crater ,Tnorala, that we see now, and this is how it all began”.

These are the beliefs of the Arrente people. These stories are their tradition, their rituals and their Gods.

Sounds absurd ? Well, thousands of these aboriginal tribes still believe in these stories of traditions, these stories of religion, these stories of GOD. Let me ask you, which religion do you believe in? Which god do you believe in?

If you believe in God, why do you? What are your religion’s stories about god ? Does that sounds normal to you ? Let’s find the answer to the most mysterious and yet, the most fundamental question ,“ IS THERE A GOD ?”.

For centuries, people believed that physically disabled people were living under a curse that was inflicted by God. People used to stay away from these “demons”. It might sound weird to you, but believe me, some people still believe in the same. Now, what changed their mind ? 

For a long time, Religion was the answer to everything. Who created the Universe ? What are we here for? Why are some people disabled ? The answer was, without any exceptions, God.

Our brain is designed in such a way that it doesn’t want to work hard (until we force it to) and it tends to accept things that are easy to believe and humans are born with an omniscient attitude i.e. we want to know everything. So, to solve this riddle someone introduced GOD, an answer to every question we don’t know. Don’t believe me, let me give you an example you all are very familiar with –

Why does the moon get eclipsed? Or simply, why doesn’t the moon continuously shine? I hope you are aware of Lord Ganesha’s tale.

In Hindu mythology, it is believed that Chandra Deva (Moon) was cursed by Lord Ganesha for making fun of him. Easy, we have the ‘GOD’ responsible for lunar eclipses till 300 BCE, when a philosopher called ARISTARCHUS was fascinated by the eclipses of moon. He was brave enough to question whether they really were caused by gods. He studied the heavens and reached a bold conclusion :

He realised the eclipses were really the shadow of the Earth passing over the Moon.

So, we humans turn to God when we are unsure about something. How will I pass my exams ? God will make me pass.

When we think of God, we think of some human-like being, one with whom we can have a personal relation, for our every tiny problem and not knowing the solution we turn to god for help.

We humans are just mere creatures on a planet revolving around a star, in a million of stars, in one of a billion galaxies and in this one in a million universes, do you think if there is GOD, your tiny problems like passing an exam would matter?  For us ( Earthlings ) our address (cosmic) is – “Earth, Solar System, Orion Spiral Arm, Milky Way Galaxy, Local Group, Virgo Supercluster, observable Universe”. 

So, would it matter if you passed or failed?

If not God, then what ? 

Here, ‘God’ word is used in an impersonal sense. Stephen Hawking believed that we didn’t need a god to explain how things actually work , it is the LAWS OF NATURE that govern the Universe. Unlike laws made by humans, the laws of nature cannot be broken. Even God cannot break the laws of nature.

 “If you believe in science, like I do, you believe that there are certain laws that are always obeyed. If you like, you can say the laws are the work of God, but that is more a definition of God than a proof of his existence.”

Who created these laws of nature I.e. who created the Universe ?

This topic used to come in the provinces of Religion i.e. the only answer we knew was GOD. God created the universe, he created the laws of nature which even he can’t break. Until the Big Bang theory came and finally we had the answer to that question too. Big Bang theory says that universe appeared out of nothing. To clearly understand the BIG-BANG THEORY let us design our own Universe from scratch, let us  be the Grand Designer of a Universe–

Despite the complexities of Universe, we only need three ingredients for making our own universe – 

1. Matter – Matter is anything that has mass. Millions of stars, asteroids, comets and many more add up to matter.
2. Energy – Even if we don’t think about energy, we all know what energy is. We can feel it on our face when we face our nearest source of energy, the Sun.
3. Space – A lot of space, the universe we know is infinite , we can say the Universe is anything but cramped.

With these 3 ingredients, we can make a universe of our own. So, was God our Grand Designer ?  Everyone used to believe in God as our Grand designer until a genius wracked his brain  and found that two of the three ingredients are nothing but the same. He was Albert Einstein, he said Matter and Energy are equivalent, we can convert one into the other using following the equation E=mc^2. We are now left with two ingredients to make a universe, Energy and Space. And where did they come from? They appeared out of the blue during Big Bang. Our universe was born from a dot and it is growing still, just like a balloon being blown up. So, how can anything just come out of the blue ? Now, since it doesn’t make sense, let’s return to God, right ? That’s what we do with every problem without a solution, we introduces god as the universal solution.

It is not an ad hoc hypothesis, the answer lies in Quantum Physics, when we make things small, smaller than protons or electrons, unusual things happens, “stuff” appears out of nothing and vanishes into nothing at the quantum level. It is what happened at the time of Big Bang, when our universe was smaller than a proton or electron, energy appeared out of the blue. 

One of the secrets that how our universe appeared out of nothing during Big Bang is : “NEGATIVE ENERGY”. It can be understood by an example:

Suppose we want to make a hill, for that we have to dig up the sand  and would eventually result in a hole. If we compare Energy with hill then that hole is nothing but Negative energy, which means all the Energy available  is equal to Negative Energy, which eventually means that All adds to ZERO. If everything adds up to zero, then What did the God make ? ( the negative energy is stored in the third ingredient of universe : the SPACE).
